The Knowledge Facilitation and Collaboration Unit supports and coordinates ECA convened thematic communities of practices, the AVLIN network of librarians, and the internal ECA network proposed for the Communications Strategy. It responds to clients requesting knowledge networking or knowledge sharing services and provides advice on knowledge networking strategies, practices and tools.

The Unit undertakes the following functions:

  • Assisting in policy development and advising requesting units on the most appropriate strategies and approaches to adopt and tools to apply to accomplish knowledge sharing or collaboration goals
  • Facilitate capturing of tacit knowledge – Internal & external to enrich the ECA knowledge corpus
  • Coordinating technical and advisory support to knowledge-sharing networks and collaboration spaces; maintains knowledge-sharing networks for ECA staff
  • Participating in developing and implementing ECA’s portfolio of knowledge networking projects; overseeing project implementation and taking actions to address issues arising
  • Monitoring knowledge network performance based on metrics and feedback; makes adjustments for continual improvements
  • Developing a strategy to reach out to ECA’s long-established as well as new partners to facilitate knowledge exchange
